Which app is the group chat in?
Pick the app and we'll walk you through it. A minute or two, on your phone.
Only one of you needs to do this. Whoever exports it shares the Wrapped with everyone.
iMessage
iMessage has no export on iPhone, so this part happens on a computer: a Mac, or a Windows PC with a backup of the iPhone. Only one of you needs one.
On a Mac
- Our Mac app reads the group chat from Messages and makes the Wrapped there. It's with Apple for its last check; leave your email and we'll send it the day it's out.
- Download Groupchat Wrapped for Mac, open the download, and drag the app to Applications. Open this page on the Mac to download it.
- Open it. It asks to read Messages: in System Settings, open Full Disk Access and turn on Groupchat Wrapped.
- Pick the group chat. Only that chat comes here, as text, and the Wrapped opens in your browser.
On a Windows PC
- Get Apple Devices from the Microsoft Store. Plug your iPhone in, and tap Trust on it if it asks. In Apple Devices, choose Back up all of the data on your iPhone to this computer, then Back Up Now. The first one can take an hour.
- When the backup's done, download our helper. If the browser says it isn't commonly downloaded, keep it (in Edge: ⋯, Keep, Show more, Keep anyway). Open this page on the PC to download it.
- Open it. Windows may say it protected your PC, because we haven't signed the helper yet: choose More info, then Run anyway. It finds the backup, you pick the conversation, and only that one comes here, as text.
No computer nearby, or no time to wait: Use Screenshots Instead
- Copy this address. It's yours for the next hour.
Making your address… - In WhatsApp, open the group chat, tap its name at the top, then Export Chat. On Android: tap ⋮, then More, then Export chat. If you've added this site to your home screen, choose it in the share list and the chat comes straight here.
- Choose Without Media, then Mail. Paste the address into To, and send.
Waiting for your chat. Keep this page open; it moves on by itself.
On a computer, or already have the export?
Upload the Export- Open Meta's download page and sign in.
- Choose Download or transfer information, then Some of your information, and tick only Messages.
- Choose Download to device, set the format to JSON and media quality to Low, then create the file.
- Meta emails you when it's ready, often within the hour. Download the zip, then email it to your address, or upload it here.Attach the zip itself: Meta's own email only has a link that needs your login.

Discord
- Add our bot to your server. It only asks to see channels and read their history.
- In any channel, type /wrapped. The whole server's stat sheet, with a trophy for everyone, lands right there.
- If you already have a DiscordChatExporter export, upload its JSON instead.

Some newer encrypted chats aren't in Meta's download. If yours is missing, screenshots work.
Telegram
- Telegram only exports from its desktop app.
- Open the group chat, click ⋮ at the top right, then Export chat history. Untick photos and videos, set the format to JSON, and export.
- Upload the result.json it makes.

Screenshots
Works for any app. Scroll through the group chat taking screenshots, or use a scrolling screenshot. Up to 20.
Choose ScreenshotsScreenshots rarely show every date, so the Wrapped leans on who said what more than when.
A file or a paste
We read exports from Slack, Signal, SMS backups, Snapchat, LINE, Google Chat and most others.
